My name is Kara Tjelmeland, a photographer based out of the San Diego area. I grew up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa where I discovered in high school my love for art and my passion for photography. I received my photography degree from Santa Fe University of Art and Design in Santa Fe, New Mexico. While living in Santa Fe I found that what I loved most about photography was that it allowed me to tell a story. From there on out I devoted my work to story telling and trying to see the big picture. I have done this in many different ways, one being my most recent work "The Value of Nothing." This work depicts some of the most deadly traits in people and some would even consider it the seven deadly sins. I have used old greek mythology tales to depict modern problems in the world today. The other way I have tried to see the big picture is through my panoramic images. I love to travel, and I love seeing what the world has to offer, but I feel that one simple photograph can't truly capture the beauty of that place and time. In order to show everything I see in that moment I take multiple photographs and stitch them together to create the entire scene so the viewer may see what I have seen. If you have any questions about me or my work please feel free to contact me via e-mail at [email protected] or like and message me on my Facebook page "Kara Tjelmeland Photography."
